Dr. Burhan Mohamedali is a board-certified advanced heart failure and heart transplant cardiologist. He specializes in the treatment of patients with a range of cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension,  cardiac amyloidosis, heart transplantation,  and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). Dr. Mohamedali earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Kentucky and completed his residency in internal medicine, followed by cardiology training, at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

Driven by his passion for advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, mechanical circulatory assist devices, and heart transplantation, after his cardiology training, he pursued specialized training in the field of heart failure. He completed a fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology through UIC at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Prior to moving to San Diego, Dr Mohamedali was the director of the Congestive Heart Failure/Heart Transplant and ECMO Program at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Mohamedali has a notable academic and research background, having delivered numerous research presentations at various society meetings, including ISHLT, ACC, AHA, HFSA, AATS, and ASAIO. He has contributed to published manuscripts in diverse areas related to heart failure, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), heart transplantation, and stem cell therapy for congestive heart failure. Notably, he authored a book chapter on heart failure in patients requiring kidney transplantation.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Mohamedali has been recognized as a distinguished speaker at both national and international conferences, including the Taiwanese Society of Cardiology, Indian College of Cardiology, and East African Society of Cardiology.

Currently, Dr. Mohamedali serves as the director of the Congestive Heart Failure Program at CVISD. He is also the Medical Director of the Congestive Heart Failure Program at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, where he actively participates in numerous quality improvement projects. His dedication to excellence in healthcare earned him a recent nomination for a core award for quality.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Mohamedali is an avid enthusiast of outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and nature exploration. He is also an amateur astronomer with a profound interest in planetary science, black holes, and neutron stars.
