Most air inlets in northern climates with cartridge/canister filters are equipped with pulse systems to “backwash” the filters during operation with a high velocity pulse of reverse-flow air. This action is proven to shed filter cake, snow and sometimes hoar frost from the filters to reduce pressure drop and extend filter service life.
